Bancor's cross-blockchain conversion process via BancorX includes conversion limits to protect users and the system from abuse.
These limits are dynamic and work in a "leaky bucket" process.
What is a "leaky bucket" process?
BancorX has a predefined maximum amount of BNT that can be transferred between blockchains. When a transaction depletes the bucket, the bucket will fill at a predefined rate (amount of BNT per block), allowing the following user who wishes to transfer BNT to execute the transaction with the new available amount, capped at the maximum limit.
This process is more effective than a daily limit because it allows the bucket to continuously fill up, so ongoing transactions can occur with little delay.
What are the limits?
BancorX currently has 2 limits, both of which are designed to protect users and the system from abuse:
- Minimum amount - this limit defines the minimum amount of BNTs that can be transferred from blockchain to blockchain.
- Maximum amount - this limit defines the maximum amount of BNTs that can be transferred from blockchain to blockchain.
